{Megan asked me about this on my post yesterday & I decided this awesome thing needed a post all to itself.}
I introduce you to the yuckiest invention there is in the world of snotsucking: the nosefrida, where you literally suck the snot out of your babe's nose. With your mouth. Yes, you read that right.
NOSE-FREAKIN'-FRIDA |
"Product Features

I've heard little about this awesome product, but last Friday & Saturday, Claire was the most congested baby on this planet. She could hardly eat with all the nasty drainage.
I took her to the pedi after work on Friday to make sure she didn't have an ear infection, as she had been tugging on her ear all day according to my mom. No ear infection, but the doctor wanted to have her suctioned out. They stuck a tiny tube in her nose, turned on this loud machine & sucked out the mucous while her & I cried.
Yes, it did wonders. For a few hours. By the end of the night, she was just as congested & by Saturday morning, the poor thing was the worst I've ever seen her & the little bulb syringe wasn't cutting it for this congested baby.
So, I hopped on a few websites, did some research & decided we needed this thing. When I told hubs about it, he practically puked. "You do what to get the snot out their nose?!?!?" And then he read the raving reviews & 5 minutes later, it was ordered & we got it Monday {amazon mom is where it's at, people. Free 2 day shipping}.
{On Sunday night, I actually had a dream nightmare that I used this on Claire & forgot to put the filter in & when I sucked the snot out, it got all in my mouth. So come Monday, I really made sure the filter was in it's place, haha!}
Well, needless to say, this is the best thing I've ever used for Claire's congestion.
Best $15.00 I've ever spent. & no, I am not getting compensated for writing this. I just wanted to pass along my two cents.
This just goes to show how there's not much I wouldn't do to make my baby comfortable. ::pats self on back::
If you're not keen on using your mouth to suck snot out of your baby's nose with your mouth, well, then, I'm sorry I've wasted your time. hehe.
OMG this is gross! but awesome at the same time! I would like to look if there is a demo on youtube or something...lol.....Im just still wondering and picturing the process....lol
ReplyDeleteholy cow! That may be the grossest thing.....ever.... but hey if it works it works....
ReplyDeleteIt's SO disgusting, yet awesome at the same time! lol. Erica, I totally youtube'd it before using it & laughed so hard.
ReplyDeleteso. nasty.
omg no way! Im gonna go on youtube now...lol
ReplyDeleteI have to get this!! I hate having a congested baby!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not above trying this if Sully gets congested. After-all, what gross thing wouldn't a mother do for her baby?
ReplyDeleteThat thing scares me! Then again, the bulb sucker scares me too!
ReplyDeleteWe have one of those too and I agree, it is one of the grossest but best inventions ever!!! Haha about your dream, too funny!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting one of these things!! I just might have to get one, now.
ReplyDeleteCool!! Glad you found something that works : )
ReplyDeleteOn facebook, all my super-hippie friends always publicly worship their "netty pots" when they have colds... I wonder how long it will take before they find this and start sucking out their own snot. Seriously.
Thank you for posting about this, I am now 100% certain that I am joining in on the grossness factor and ordering this right now!
ReplyDeleteLOL! The things we do for our babes! As long as it works and makes your baby girl comfortable, it's totally worth overlooking the gross factor!
ReplyDeleteAhhh I KNOW that this thing is really awesome, yet I still can't wrap my head around it. I really should get one though.
ReplyDeleteand LOL at April, that's kind of hysterical.
Kate had a deep suction in the ER two weeks ago. They are horrible!
ReplyDeleteBut, it made her bleed really bad due to her blood issues so we can't use any type of suction on her anymore. I loved my nosefrida until the hematologist said no more!
I love this post! LOL
ReplyDeleteIf it was my baby, I wouldn't hesitate to do it at all! poor girl. I bet she's much happier now!
I just had to share this with my husband. I openly admit that I forgot to tell him about the filter. The look on his face was completely priceless! LOL Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSO happy to have seen this! My almost 1 year old has the worst snot problems in the world and yes I too would use this. It totally reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me that when her baby had major congestion problems and she didn't have ANY nose sucker in the house, she just put her mouth straight up to her baby's nose and sucked out the snot. Only a mother could appreciate that! :)
ReplyDeleteoh I also meant to say that I have caught my child's throw up in my hands more times than I care to admit. The things we do as mothers!
ReplyDeleteI agree...disgusting but awesomely genius at the same time! haha! I read your post about nannying, you can also try nannies4hire.com, I was a nanny before I got pregnant with my first and I still watched their 3 kids plus my own for a year then I found out I was expecting #2 and it actually timed out perfectly because the youngest was going into kindergarten so it was an easy exit time for me. But they LOVED me having our little one there and the 3 kids loved playing with him, I know it is a different story since I started nannying before having a kid but I think you will find a perfect family that will fit. I was so close with my family that the mother is my sons godmother...nannying is such an amazing thing! I would also maybe put a flyer up at your church, I saw the one the other day when I had to leave mass because my 6 month old was fussy and I was trying to distract him with the colorful flyers on the board...anyway there was an ad on there looking for a nanny and I thought that was the perfect way to get good families. You could even do it out of your house, might be easier for your sanity and Claires! lol You can totally make this work!! I found the perfect nannying family and I think you will too! I would totally hire someone that has kids so my kids could have interaction ya know!! Good Luck if you have any nannying tips let me know lol
ReplyDeleteYou are a braver woman than I am! Or so I say now, before the kid gets here. Who knows, maybe I'll be buying one too in six months...
ReplyDeleteI am soooo glad A's not congested much anymore... I would totally use this if I need to though.
ReplyDeleteI think you have me convinced. For 15? That seems totally worth it!
ReplyDeletejust wanted to say hi! I love finding other mom & baby blogs!
ReplyDeleteI have the NoseFrieda but have not had to use it yet. So glad it works!
